My good lady took me shopping this weekend. Or rather, I was asked to tag along and help Christmas shop, but I’m not terribly good at all this stuff, so I do not think I was particularly helpful in the end. Anyway, we were in a Crate and Barrel store and I saw some of the best steak knives I have ever seen. Normally I am not one to go in for these kind of gimmicks, but I could not help think how cool it would be to have people over to dinner and to be able to drop a great bit of steak and some of these first class steak knives.
Now I need a bit of help convincing the lady wife that steak knives are definitely something we need in the new year. I am trying to pitch it to her as an investment that will make our summer BBQs a lot more fancy and classy, which is something she has wanted for a while!

I’m so madly obsessed with tea parties when I was a kid that my mother was quite sure I’d be a socialite and an air head. I’d spend half the morning arranging my table with cups and saucers and spend the other half of the day making sweet conversations with my rag dolls about the weather, our favorite pink dresses and the our silly dog who’s happy to join our company. Never did my mother expect that her budding tea enthusiast daughter would ever make use of her brimming passion for tea and that it would pave way for a successful business. After several busy weeks of renovation, my new store opened in our busy town. When I invited my mother to the newly renovated store, she just looked at me with a silly smile. When we entered the store, it was in pristine order. The cups and saucers displayed on the wooden shelves sat cozily amongst the ceramic mugs. The cake stands filled with pretty frosted cupcakes. The glass jars are filled to the brim with goodies: giant chocolate chip cookies, white frosted oat bran, raisin and nut fruit and date bars. This delicious aroma was complemented by the refreshing steam from the big pot of steeping tea. Add to that the invigorating bitter-sweet smell of ground coffee. The light chatter of the people sounded like buzzing bees dancing with the melodious jazz beat. As we sat in a corner lounge, she heaved a huge sigh. “Who would have thought?” was all she said and we both broke into laughter with tears welling up in our eyes.
