Apple don’t like to bring out too many updates, nobody wants to be bugged into updating their phone every time they turn the thing on. Instead, Apple like to save up a lot of things and release it all at once and the iOS 4.1 update is by no means different. The iPhone is available for free from freebiejeebies.

The new update brings about a whole bunch of bug fixes, including some really important ones such as the proximity sensor. The date has now been set for the 8th of September but curiously only stated on the UK website and no others. Apple typically release their updates at the same time globally, here’s hoping they keep to that scheme.

iOS 4.1 also promises a bunch of new features on top of the bug fixes such as Apple’s new Game Center which allows you to play multi-player games against other iOS device users and new high dynamic range capabilities have been added to the iPhone’s camera.
